| David Beckham is still on track to wear this shirt. |
Alexi Lalas the manager of Los Angeles Galaxy has assured that Engalnd’s superstar David Beckham won’t be loaned to Europe, after a series of clubs lead by Real Madrid tried to bring the 32 year old back to Europe.
Earlier this week Real Madrid officials expressed their intentions to keep Beckham in Spain but the Major League Soccer club refused firmly the deal. It seems that there is nothing that can stop the English superstar to join Major League Soccer’s, L.A. Galaxy, after his contract with Real Madrid expires this month.
Beckham is still a top soccer player
All this comes after Beckham managed to come back to his top shape in the last few months both while playing at Real Madrid and at the England’s national team. Now the Spanish Primera Divison leaders suddenly want to keep Becks. If they had the same attitude a few months ago, England’s number seven wouldn’t have signed with Los Angeles Galaxy for a five year deal.
Beckham playing at both clubs in the same season ?
It is well known that the European and the American season are not played in the same period of the year and some left the door open for the possibility of David Beckham playing both for Real Madrid and Los Angeles Galaxy and of course England’s national team. This option was denied though by Alexi Lalas, who declared:
‘We talk about David Beckham and sometimes we don’t mention enough that this is a human being.
‘His mental and physical rejuvenation is important and we can’t run him ragged with what his responsibilities are on and off the field.’
‘So in the off-season it is important for our players to take the time to rejuvenate for the next season.’
Alexi Lalas assures Beckham’s longevity at England’s national team
Lalas assures that Beckham will be supported to continue with success his international career for his home country. England is struggling in it’s Euro 2008 qualifying campaign and Becks is considered a key factor for helping the squad.
‘We’re excited. As far as we’re concerned it’s wonderful for David and it’s wonderful for LA Galaxy,’.
‘His call is to the national team and as I’ve said before I’ll drive him to the airport, it’s great for him and it’s great for the Galaxy.’
