| Real did it! Congratulations to the 2007 Primera Division Champions. |
Real Madrid has won last night their 30th Spanish Primera Division title after a photo-finish against arch rivals F.C. Barcelona. But the drama was of course the main factor of the last La Liga match day. Two times defending Spanish champions, F.C. Barcelona, have completed their task against Gimnastic Taragona and grabbed the highly needed 3 points. But this was only half of the way to the glory. The Catalans had to hope for a Real slip at home in their last game against Mallorca.
Real and their era of luck
As you might anticipate from the title, Real managed to save their title yet another time in the final moments of the game. Incredible but true Madrid has saved precious points in the last three games of the season and reached the glory once again. The Spanish Champions found themselves trailing Mallorca 1-0 at the half time. More their game failed in efficiency. The crowd at Santiago Bernabeu really started worrying after Mallorca’s first goal scorer Varela went millimeters pass the 2-0 goal one hour into the game. But football is always great because of the fast turnarounds and two minutes later Real equalized with Juan Antonio Reyes’s goal. The fans asked for Guti and Capello reacted bringing him on the pitch. He also switched in Higuain. Real started applying more and more pressure on their rivals and 10 minutes from time Reyes crossed for Diarra’s 2-1 goal. At Santiago Bernabeu the 30th Primera Division title was again in sight and was confirmed by Reyes doppietta in the 83rd minute.
Barcelona lost it
About the 2007 Spanish Primera Division season I would say that Barcelona lost the title and not that Real won it. The Catalans seemed for the biggest part of the season to be in control of the league. But the finish was terrible. Two draws at home out of the last three home games where fatal for Ronaldinho and his team. Or should I say Messi and his team, because this last dozen games Barca was pushed on by the Argentinian superstar, who showed some superb shape. More of that, while Real was winning or scoring in the last seconds of their matches, Barcelona where receving goals in the same time. yesterday’s 5-1 win at Gimnastic was only to prove that Barca lost this title because of their negligence. This negligence was best described in the face of game against Real at the Nou Camp, when Barca controlled the game from start to finish but managed to offer a draw and with this the title to their rivals.
Conclusion
In my conclusion Real wins the title and I respect them for fighting each game until the end. Only a great team is able to produce such turnarounds. And also there is a famous quote: “You make your luck with your own hands” and this is exactly was Real Madrid did. Barcelona on the other hand acted naive and saw themselves champions far to soon. Perhaps this will be a strong lesson for them, because with players like Ronaldinho and Messi you should be able to obtain at least a trophy in a season. And this year Barca failed to win a title.
Once again my congratulations go to real Madrid, new Spanish Champions!!!
