    Euro 2008 Tournament Draw

Sunday the 2nd December, yesterday, the Euro 2008 Tournament draw has been performed in Lucerne, Switzerland. It was a dramatic moment for all teams involved as the group stage configuration started to took shape. Some where happy with the results others seemed to run out of luck. Enough with this intro, now let’s see the draw results.

Euro 2008 Tournament Draw - The Results
    Here is the group configuration

    euro 2008 groups

    Group A
Is formed by Switzerland, Czech Republic, Portugal and Turkey.
The Czech Republic and Portugal seem the favorites for advancing to the knock-out round from this first round. The co-host nation Switzerland have an acceptable group and are able to produce an upset. The same comments for Turkey.

    Group B
Austria, Croatia, Germany, Poland form this group. The main comment over here is that Germany seem to have some good friends at UEFA. It was yet another draw when Germany have been awarded the easiest group possible. Croatia and Germany should advance to the next round from this group.

    Group C
Netherlands, Italy, Romania and France are building group C. You can call it the group of death, the group of giants or how you wish. This is the most difficult group from the Euro 2008. Three football powers and a team that qualified to the Euro from the first place in their group are forming this pot.
Also both Netherlands - Romania and Italy - France have meet already in the Euro 2008 Qualifiers, a strange situation here. No idea who will advance, will place my bets before the Tournament. :p

    Group D
Greece, Sweden, Spain, Russia are the teams from the group D. It is a balanced group with Spain big favorites. Greece and Russia will fight for the second place. I don’t think that Sweden could qualify from this group.

    What opinions do you have?
