Boca Juniors where the first team to qualify for the final of the 2007 Club World Cup after a 1 - 0 win over the North African side Etoile du Sahel. It was the first game of the tournament for the Argentinian side.
Etoile du Sahel started the competition earlier and defeated in their previous game Sepahan from Iran with 3 - 1. Cardozo opened the score in the 37th minute, after a nice Boca Juniors attack, with a shot from inside of the box.
