Real Madrid 2 - 1 Alicante - Highlights
Real Madrid defeats Alicante at the Santiago Bernabeu with 2 - 1 and quailifies for the 5th Copa del Rey round. The first leg match ended with a 1 - 1 draw in Alicante and Bernd Schuster’s side needed a win yesterday in order to get their tickets to the next round.
It was not an easy game for Real and the attendance at the Santiago Bernabeu was preparing for the extra-time, as Guti found the qualifying goal in the 90th minute. It was a lovely goal indeed. You can watch it in the above video.
Arjen Robben opened the score for Real Madrid in the 31st minute with a spectacular volley-shot. The opening came after a series of misses, or better said, a series of saves made by Alicante’s goalkeeper.
Borja equalized for Alicante after one hour of play and Real Madrid saw themselves threatened with extra-time. But Guti saved the day with a great goal and the La Liga leaders remain also in the battle for the Copa del Rey.
