Fiorentina are their direct rivals for a Champions League place and this away win is simply what The Rossoneri needed in order to start climbing their way up to the top 3. Carlo Ancelotti’s boys are now 5th in the Serie A table with 33 points. Fiorentina are 4th with 37 points, but AC Milan have a match less played.
Now let’s turn back to tonight’s encounter. The game was quite balanced. AC Milan had the greater ball possession while Fiorentina registered the most shots towards the goal and also the shots that hit the target. The halftime score was 0 - 0 and after the break things did not seem to change. The scoreboard appeared frozen for a goalless draw.
AC Milan had an ace in their sleeve left. Youngster, Alexander Pato, saved The Rossoneri again. He scored in the 77th minute after a speedy AC Milan counter attack and sent the 40,000 attendance at the Artemio Franchi in agony. This was also the final score.
The bad news for AC Milan is that Pato injured himself in the 89th minute and had to leave the pitch on the stretcher. It looks pretty ugly.
