Aston Villa 4 - 1 Newcastle United Highlights
0 - 1 Michael Owen

Aston Villa defeated Newcastle yesterday afternoon at the Villa Park by a comfortable margin. Martin O´Neill’s boys won 4 - 1 in front of a Newcastle side that is experiencing an increased down curve in their performance. Kevin Keegan’s arrival did not produce the expected shock to the team and Newcastle are going further and further away from the top spots of the Premier League.
The Magpies had a perfect start of the game and Michael Owen opened the score very early in the 4th minute after a dangerous cross. In fact Newcastle went to the restrooms leading 1 - 0 on the scoreboard.
The second half was a disaster though. First, Wilfred Bouma equalized with a low clever placed shot. John Carew’s hat-trick followed between the 51st and 90th minute. First, the Norwegian striker sent a superb back-header that hit the post and entered into the goal. Another header meant Carew’s second goal of the afternoon. The over 40,00 fans attendance reached maximum level of satisfaction after Carew’s third goal. This one was scored from the penalty kick.
Aston Villa are now 5h in the Premier League table, while Newcastle rank in the lower part.
