The two sides played their final of this competition in their first group stage game. Cameroon and Egypt where group neighbours in the Group C. Egypt defeated the Indomitable Lions with 4-2 in the first match of their group stage.Cameroon manage after that to obtain 4 wins in a row and to reach the final. The quarter final win against Angola was obtained in the extra-time after a 2-2 draw in the first 90 minutes. The Lions defeated host nation Ghana in the semi-finals. This is a questionable performance though, as Ghana was the team that lead the game.
Egypt have impressed in this tournament from start to finish. Yes to finish, because in my opinion Hassan Shehata’s side will win the tournament. They won the Group C with 7 points. In the quarter-final Angola where their victims. The semifinal win though, against the Ivory Coast was magnificent.
We have a final between two countries that where not given to many chances to reach this late phase of the tournament. Egypt, the title defenders, where considered to have passed their top shape, while Cameroon seemed still to search for their late 90′ performance.
    May the best team win!
