AS Roma obtains a prestigious quarterfinal qualification after a deserved 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu. The game lacked in intensity in the first half. But the drama started unfolding as Pepe, from Real Madrid was red carded in the 71st minute. The Brazilian player received a second yellow card for shirt-pulling.

AS Roma got a deserved opening goal, 2 minutes later, after Taddei’s superb header. Raul Madrid equalized for the home side just 2 minutes later, from an obvious offside position non-signalized by the linesman. Real couldn’t find the second goal though. A 2-1 win for the home team would have pushed the game into extra-time. AS Roma where the team that completed the scoreboard with another goal from a good header.
