Adrian Mutu was the hero of the night for Fiorentina. The Italian side played against PSV Eindhoven for the UEFA Cup semi-finals. The Romanian striker opened the score with a magnificent free kick goal from around 30 meters. The ball was unreachable for Gomes and Fiorentina went in the lead for the halftime.
Mutu scored again in the 53rd minute, with the left foot this time after a rebound from a Gomes save after a Pazzini shot. PSV tried to come back in the game, but Simons managed to miss a penalty kick end the game ended 2-0 for the visitors.
