Stoke managed a very important win this afternoon against Tottenham Hotspur. They won 2-1 after a dramatic game and climbed a spot in the Premier League standings. The Spurs crisis continues and Juande Ramos’ days as a club manager are counted.
Tottenham started the match poorly and saw themselves reduced to 10 men in the 10th minute. Bale was sent off and Stoke opened the score after a penalty kick. Darren Bent equalized for the visitors and the teams went leveled for the halftime. [click to continue…]
UEFA CUP 2008-09 Group Stage Draw Results
The UEFA Cup has defined its groups for the 2008-09 edition. The draw was performed a few hours ago in Nyon. 8 Groups have been formed combining the seeded and non-seeded teams. Each group contains 5 teams, with the first 3 advancing to the knock-out round. The teams play only once against each other.
Group Winners will have an easier task in the first knock-out round as they will play against third placed teams. The second ranked squads will meet 3rd placed teams from the Champions League groups in the first round after the group stage.
AC Milan are the big favorites this season, in their attempt to win the UEFA Cup for the first time. Sevilla also return to this competition after spending one year in the Champions League. The former double winners return to recapture the trophy. [click to continue…]
